sunshine
sunshine came out on dvd and bluray this week. i bought it immediately. it’s an unbelievably beautiful movie- a fascinating premise, unfolding into a compelling drama, with brilliant performances by cillian murphy, rose byrne, benedict wong, and the rest; gorgeous cinematography and effects; glorious music and sound; this movie is about as close to perfect as a movie can get, and it easily earns a slot in my all-time top 10 list. top 3, in fact. i’m reluctant to declare it number one so soon, but i’ve certainly not been this excited about a movie in a long, long, time.
i wish i could see it for the first time again.
i’ve never really had any active interest in meeting a director before, but while watching danny boyle’s commentary i found myself thinking, “wow. i’d love to meet him and shake his hand and tell him how much i love this film.”
oh danny boyle, oh danny boyle, i love it so!
